The long story goes this way. Here at Back Alley Coffee we look at coffee as a process. We feel that a coffee that is the very best and that will bring back customers time and time again, begins with the coffee farmers and ends up with you savoring a hot cup. That being said, let's look at this process and see if it truly is different than the others. First, how do we go about choosing our coffee? A trust, built up in our suppliers is the first step. They have personally cupped every coffee offered, beginning at the farm. If the coffee passes, they place an order. Once it arrives at the port, they again cup it before taking possession and then again when it reaches their warehouse. It is then graded as a specialty coffee. We only buy coffee that has received the highest of marks, even if the price is higher.

Why? We are interested in your coffee drinking experience, which means repeat business. After receiving the coffee from our suppliers we roast and cup each coffee to assure that the highest of expectations are realized.

Here at Back Alley Coffee we consider ourselves Micro Roasters, doing very small controlled batches. Each roast begins with an order. Only when an order is received is a coffee roasted. It is then packed in a sealed, airtight, inner valve bag to preserve flavors and is then shipped to you. We feel that this is what gives us the edge.

Our coffee is never roasted ahead of time and then packaged in the hopes of selling it quickly so that flavors are retained. We look at things differently. We are a Roast to Order company and we focus on providing you the very best product.

First, the need for good water. This will result in a consistently good cup. Second, the need to keep your coffee maker clean. Coffee oils will build up and ruin the taste of any coffee, no matter where you get it. There is also the problem of minerals from water, building up over time. So keep your coffee maker clean and enjoy the best coffee. Third, not all coffee makers are created equal. Many do not heat the water to the proper temperature, so choose one that is high in wattage.
